{"id":4189,"date":"2022-10-13T08:32:00","date_gmt":"2022-10-13T08:32:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.citywoofer.com\/blog\/?p=4189"},"modified":"2022-10-13T10:15:24","modified_gmt":"2022-10-13T10:15:24","slug":"crafts-mela-at-kalagram-selling-the-craft-to-art-lovers-and-admirers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.citywoofer.com\/blog\/crafts-mela-at-kalagram-selling-the-craft-to-art-lovers-and-admirers\/","title":{"rendered":"Crafts Mela at Kalagram selling the craft to art lovers and admirers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>CHANDIGARH<\/strong>: After the rainy welcome of the artistes, artisans and craftsmen to &#8216;City Beautiful&#8217; from different parts of the country, they are finally making the most of the pleasant autumn weather with foot-fall picking up.\u00a0 Their soaring spirits were visible at the 10-day-long Chandigarh National Crafts Mela, a joint venture of North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC) and Chandigarh Administration, which went off to a colourful start at Kalagram, Manimajra (Chandigarh) on October 7.<\/p>\n<div class=\"full-width-img py-3\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.citywoofer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/wood-art-600x400.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/div>\n<p>Over 200 artisans from across India are participating in the fair. Aesthetic and traditionally set up stalls are displaying a range of products like Banarsi silk, cotton textiles from Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, ethnic jewellery from Gujarat and Rajasthan, carpets, terracotta and pottery items, and dried flowers from West Bengal.<\/p>\n<div class=\"blog-video\" style=\"text-align: center;\">\n<div style=\"width: 525px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('video');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-4189-1\" width=\"525\" height=\"289\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/www.citywoofer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Kala13.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.citywoofer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Kala13.mp4\">https:\/\/www.citywoofer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Kala13.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>There is a wide variety of products on sale like footwear, carpets, home decor, furniture, and eating stalls too.<\/p>\n<p>Artisans from Bihar Bagesh and Nagesh Kumar are showcasing <a class=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/indianexpress.com\/elections\/madhubani-lok-sabha-election-results\/\">Madhubani<\/a>\u00a0paintings, their intricate work based on nature and ancient texts.<\/p>\n<p>People were seen picking up items from a wide range of products like ethnic wear, crockery, cutlery items, artificial jewellery, rugs, etc.<\/p>\n<div class=\"full-width-img py-3\" style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.citywoofer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/terracotta-600x400.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><\/div>\n<p>One of the sellers, Shashi Sharma from Karnal (Haryana), says \u201cWe have brought artificial jewellery, including bangles, bracelets, earrings, and \u2018kainthi\u2019 sets from Karnal, which are hot favourites with ladies of all hues. Customers generally fall for the handmade items of ethnic value\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In an interaction, Aparna Guha travelling all the way from West Bengal, said \u201cWe have brought artificial handmade jewellery, including junk jewellery, a hot favourite in West Bengal, besides kitchen utensils made of expensive wood. Our sales are gradually picking up by the day after being dismal initially\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>A cultural\u00a0 programmes is also planned for the evening each day. The inaugural ceremony was marked by a mesmerizing musical presentation &#8211; \u2018Swar Lehiri\u2019, a soul-soothing symphony of 42 musical instruments of various states.
