Deccan Ultra 2027 invites runners to experience one of the toughest and most rewarding ultra-trail races in India. Set deep within the majestic Sahyadri Mountains of Maharashtra, this race takes participants across dramatic ridgelines, historic forts, technical mountain trails, and breathtaking viewpoints overlooking the vast Deccan Plateau.
The course features some of the most iconic landmarks in the Sahyadris, including Kalsubai, the highest peak in Maharashtra at 1,646 meters, and the legendary Alang, Madan, and Kulang forts (AMK), widely regarded as among the most challenging forts in the region.
This is not just a race—it's an expedition through history, wilderness, and some of India's most spectacular mountain landscapes.

🏔️ Course Description
The Deccan Ultra course is designed for runners seeking a true mountain-running experience.
The terrain ranges from smooth runnable trails and gradual ascents to exposed rocky sections, steep mountain climbs, technical descents, and near-vertical slopes equipped with iron ladders. Participants will navigate ridgelines, forests, fort trails, rocky outcrops, and challenging mountain terrain throughout the event.
The 161 KM, 115 KM, and 80 KM categories circle the stunning Bhandardara region, covering multiple forts, mountain peaks, and extensive sections of the Sahyadri Range.
Runners should be prepared for long hours on rugged terrain, changing weather conditions, and demanding elevation gain. Consistent training and prior trail-running experience are strongly recommended to fully enjoy the challenge.
✅ Qualifying Criteria
Participants must meet the following requirements:
35 KM Category
Must have completed a Half Marathon within 2 Hours 30 Minutes.
55 KM Category
Must have completed:
For 12-hour stadium runs, participants must have completed at least 50 KM.
80 KM Category
Must have completed:
115 KM & 161 KM Categories
Must have completed:
Races completed after 1 January 2026 will only be considered as qualifying races for Deccan Ultra 2027.
No qualifying criteria apply for VK, 15 KM, and 21 KM categories.
