THE GARHWAL HIGHLINE 2026
A HILL RACE

THE RETURN OF THE UTTARKASHI 135 MILE

Some races you run.
Some races you remember.
And some races are worth bringing back.

Garhwal Highline marks the return of the race formerly known as the Uttarkashi 135 Mile Ultra, a Globeracers mountain endurance race that took runners through the lower Himalayas towards Uttarkashi.

After years away, the race returns in 2026 under a new name.

THE RACE

Location: Rishikesh to Uttarkashi

Route: Final route will be announced soon.

Race Days: 25–27 December 2026

Race Briefing: 25 December 2026. Venue and schedule will be notified closer to race day.

Garhwal Highline is a long-distance mountain race set in the Garhwal Himalayas.

This is a race where the terrain is part of the challenge. Long climbs, descents, changing weather, cold nights and extended hours on the course are all part of what makes mountain ultras different.

Four distances give runners the opportunity to choose their challenge:

50 KM | 100 KM | 160 KM | 220 KM

You choose the distance.
You prepare for the mountains.
You find out how far you can go.

RACE FORMAT

YOUR CREW IS YOUR AID STATION.

Garhwal Highline is a fully self-supported race.

There are no conventional race-provided aid stations throughout the course. Every runner is responsible for arranging their own crew and personal race support.

Your crew should be prepared to support you with:

• Hydration
• Food and nutrition
• Hot meals
• Clothing and weather gear
• Spare shoes and equipment
• Other personal requirements

For the longer distances, your crew should be prepared to support you through the night and changing mountain conditions.

RACE START SUPPORT

At the beginning of the race, runners will be provided with hydration.

From there onwards, runners are responsible for arranging their own hydration and nutrition through their crew.

Build your crew. Plan your nutrition. Prepare for the mountains.

MOUNTAIN CONDITIONS

Garhwal Highline takes place in a mountain environment where conditions can change quickly.

Runners should be prepared for:

• Long climbs and descents
• Changing weather
• Rain and wet conditions
• Cold temperatures, particularly at night
• Extended periods of running in darkness

Mountain running requires preparation beyond simply being able to cover the distance.

Train for the terrain. Prepare for the weather. Be ready for the unexpected.

NIGHT RUNNING

The longer distances will take runners through darkness.

Participants running after dark must carry the required night-running equipment, including a headlamp and reflective vest.

Runners and crews should plan their clothing, nutrition and equipment accordingly.

RACE RULES

All participants and crew members are expected to follow the instructions of the Globeracers race team.

  1. FOLLOW THE ROUTE
Runners must remain on the designated race route. Short-cutting or deliberately leaving the course to gain an advantage may result in disqualification.
  1. ROUTE CHANGES & RACE CANCELLATION

Garhwal Highline takes place in a mountain environment where conditions can change quickly.

In the event of a road closure, landslide, extreme weather, flooding, blocked roads or trails, unsafe terrain, government restrictions, or any other unforeseen circumstance, the organisers reserve the right to:

    • Modify or divert the route
    • Close or bypass a section of the course
    • Change checkpoints or support locations
    • Delay or temporarily suspend the race
    • Modify the race distance
    • Stop or abandon the race

The organisers' decision will be based on the safety of runners, crew, volunteers and race personnel.

Safety takes priority over the scheduled route and race distance.

  1. SAFETY & MEDICAL
Runners must follow instructions from race officials and medical personnel.
The medical team may require a runner to stop if continuing is considered unsafe.
  1. NIGHT RUNNING
Runners must carry the mandatory equipment required for running after dark, including a headlamp and reflective vest.
  1. CREW RESPONSIBILITY
Each runner is responsible for ensuring that their crew understands the self-supported race format, support requirements and safety expectations.
  1. RESPECT THE MOUNTAINS
Runners and crew must not litter and are expected to respect the natural environment.
  1. RESPECT THE LOCAL COMMUNITY
Runners and crew must respect local residents, traffic, private property, wildlife and the communities along the route.
  1. FINAL INSTRUCTIONS
Additional race rules, mandatory equipment, checkpoints, crew instructions and operational information will be provided to registered participants before the event.

WHO IS GARHWAL HIGHLINE FOR?

For runners who want more than a conventional road race.
For those ready to take on mountain ultras.
For runners taking on their first 100K.
For experienced ultrarunners looking towards 160K and 220K.
And for anyone willing to spend a night or more moving through the mountains.
This is a race where preparation matters.
Where your crew matters.
Where the weather matters.
And where the ability to keep moving matters most.

A RACE HISTORY

Before it became Garhwal Highline, this race was known as the Uttarkashi 135 Mile Ultra.
The original race connected Rishikesh and Uttarkashi through the lower Himalayas, taking runners through a demanding mountain environment.
Historical race records show editions of the Uttarkashi 135 Mile from 2012 through 2019.

The race became part of the history of Indian ultra running — a demanding journey through the Garhwal mountains that tested runners over long distances and significant elevation.
Now, after years away, Globeracers brings the race back.
Not simply to recreate the past.
But to continue the story.
