The piece is essentially a humorous take on the natural phenomenon of ageing, getting fat, which in today's world of ultra fitness, gyms, diets, superfoods, health gurus, social media and surgical procedures and influencers, is frowned upon and looked at as anything but natural.
The piece uses the body of the performer (i.e, my body ) as the body being examined and critiqued, and the performer, along with the audience, is both the examiner and the one being examined.
The piece examines a fifty-year-old female body and explores menopause, weight issues, Instagram culture, internalised patriarchy and the capitalist control over our bodies by beauty, fitness and health industries through the lens of humour and social critique.
