Chandigarh: City Beautiful Chandigarh will soon see many well-known names of the cine world with the fourth edition of the week-long Indus Valley International Film Festival (IVIFF) 2022 coming to town.
The inaugural ceremony of this borderless travelling film festival was held at Tagore Theatre on Tuesday.
In the coming days, a melange of directors, actors and casting directors – actors Rajat Kapoor, Rajit Kapur, Saurabh Shukla; directors like Anurag Basu, Madhur Bhandarkar; casting director Mukesh Chhabra, film maker Brahmanand Singh and producer Ketki Pandit among others, will arrive in Chandigarh to be a part of the fest.
Master classes from Bollywood’s famous casting director Mukesh Chhabra are going to be the centre of attraction for theatre artistes and budding actors who are waiting in the wings for a chance to showcase their talent to the world through different modes of entertainment like web series, short films, off track films, OTT, etc.

The festival will offer an open platform where makers can pitch their films, shows or web series and seek support. People from some top OTTs, studios and TV channels have agreed to participate in the film bazaar.
Supported by the Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation Limited (CITCO), the festival will be hosted at Piccadily Square and Chandigarh Club, apart from Tagore Theatre.
As many as 50 films will be screened from 15 countries including India, Bhutan, Canada, the US, Denmark, Australia, Italy, Iran, Serbia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Nepal.

Chandigarh: Waving tricolours, girls and boys dressed in signature blue T-shirts of Indian cricket team and a highly charged up atmosphere – that’s the scene outside Punjab Cricket Association’s Bindra Stadium in Mohali today where India will be taking on Australia in the first T20 International match of 3-match-series. The match will start at 7:30 PM today. This will be the first game that India will play after finishing off their Asia Cup 2022 journey. Both the teams have been attending training session from last 4 days.

Interestingly, India and Australia have faced each other 23 times in T20 format and India has 13 wins to its credit while Australia has nine and one game ended in no result.
Five T20 matches have been played here between 2009 and 2019 and three of these matches have been won by the sides batting second and two by the teams batting first.

PCA will be unveiling the two stands named after Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh an hour before the match. The South Pavilion has been named after Harbhajan Singh, while the North Pavilion is named after Yuvraj.

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights (CCPCR) Chandigarh organized a Training program for Government School Counsellors of all Government school of U.T. Chandigarh to discuss about various roles and responsibilities of counsellors on September 15th and 16th at Conference Hall, CCPCR, Admin Block, Snehalaya, Chandigarh.

Mr. Chanchal Singh, RTE Consultant, CCPCR welcomed and introduced the theme of the training program with the participants. Chandigarh: In a new move, for better enforcement, the local Municipal Corporation will issue smart identity cards with bar codes to registered vendors in the city.

The cards will have pre-fed information about vendors, allotted site, fee status and challan history, etc.The enforcement sub-inspectors/inspectors will have hand-held devices that can be used to scan the IDs to retrieve information about a particular vendor.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the recently-formed Town Vending Committee.

Further, for allotment of around 2,800 new vending sites, preference will be given to those with physically disabilities, widows, transgenders, senior citizens, with chronic illness and AIDS. For the remaining sites, the allotment would be done through a draw of lots.

Sandhu, Head, Deptt. of Radiodiagnosis and Imaging, PGI, Chandigarh and Prof. Paramjeet Singh, Professor, Deptt. of Radiodiagnosis were honoured by the Indian Radiological and Imaging Association” (IRIA) in recognition of their outstanding services. This honour also recognises their hard work, dedication and teaching experience of more than 3 decades.

Prof. M.S. Sandhu is a senior Professor at PGI working in the Higher Administrative Grade. He has more than 35 years of teaching, research and work experience. He has over 225 research publications/presentations / chapters in books. He is the current president of the Chandigarh Chapter of Indian Radiological and Imaging Association (IRIA) and also the Current President of the North India Chapter of Indian Society of Vascular and Interventional Radiology.

Prof. Paramjeet Singh who is the senior faculty in Neuro Radiology Section is the convener of DM Neuro Radiology course. He has to his credit more than 30 years of research, work, and teaching experience. He has published 180+ research presentations/ chapter in books. He is the former president of Chandigarh Chapter of Indian Radiological and Imaging Association and also the former president of Chandigarh Chapter of ISVIR.

Chandigarh: Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi is organizing, prestigious exhibition of printmaking portfolio ‘Threshold’ curated by Nicholas Ruth, USA created as part of International Print Exchange Programme (IPEP) India’s annual activity. ‘Threshold’ is a collective effort of artists from seventeen countries and has been exhibited in Baton Rouge, Cape Girardeau, West Lafayette and Los Angeles in USA; Meadowbank, Australia;

Johannesburg, South Africa; Charlbury Festival, UK; Brussels, Belgium; Naigaon, India; Tallinn, Estonia. Works of Printmakers from 17 countries will be displayed.

The event is being organised by Chandigarh Lalit Kala Academy under the guidance of its Chairman Mr. Bheem Malhotra and initiated by Mr. Bhanu Shrivastav, one of the young participating printmakers (artist) of the city in the portfolio.
