6 Movie Theatres in Chandigarh That Take You Back To Your Good Ol’ Days!

09/06/2022

Chandigarh just never seizes to surprise you. This city is the home to true cinema lovers and habitual moviegoers. On the one hand, you find those single-screen theatres like Kiran and Neelam that are keeping the old-school charm alive, and on the other, you also have those ultra-modern and state-of-the-art theatres that the young lot frequents.

Each movie theatre in Chandigarh has a charm of its own. I personally have grown up going to those single-screen theatres where they only had two settings in a chair.

And now we have the super comfortable and luxurious recliners right at the back of the theatre. Regardless of what the venue is and what setup you prefer more, the love for movies has remained the same. This blog is a tribute to probably one of the most colourful movie cultures you will ever come across in the country. Let’s have a look at some of the most happening and amazing movie theatres in Chandigarh that people of all ages love to experience every now and then:

Fun-Republic - One of the movie theatres

Fun Republic

mapDhilllon Complex, Manimajra, Chandigarh – Panchkula Rd, opposite Busstand, Panchkula, 160101The Fun Republic is probably one of the most popular names among the people of the Tricity region. The Fun Cinemas are located in Mani Majra, Chandigarh right at the border of Panchukula one can say. This place once used to be the hang-out spot of every college-going student back in the days. It was and still is one of a kind. It was also the only McDonald’s that we had a little more than a decade ago. The Fun Republic brand is not just a name but a window to the golden memories of practically countless millennials who have spent the better part of their college days lurking around this cinema hall and relishing Chicken McGrills with chilled iced teas. This is one place that surely deserves a revisit.

DLF-City-Centre - Best for movie

DLF City Centre

It is located right in the heart of the IT Park and is a very popular spot for the nerd crowd over here. You can just never get enough of the discounts that you receive in their retail stores. They have probably the best fashion apparel brands under a single roof one can possibly imagine. Also, if you are going there, you can never get over just how tasty the hot chocolate served by Dunkin’ Donuts is. And yes, you can watch every Marvel movie in this theatre. The timings here are always suitable and needless to mention the tickets are very much affordable, so I have noticed. This is one of the very few places in Chandigarh that have been able to retain their old charm.

Elante-Mall - Movie theatre in Chnadigarh

Elante Mall

map178 A, Purv Marg, Industrial Area Phase I, Chandigarh, 160002If you look at Elante Mall and its PVR screens, they are relatively new in the business. But this is exactly what makes them unique and premium. These screens have a lot of variations and some of them also offer state-of-the-art 4D technology. Nestled in the middle of the industrial area, it is easily approachable and clearly one of the most happening places with the highest number of movie shows in Chandigarh. You will find that every single movie that releases worldwide finds a spot on one of these screens. So yes, there is a vast assortment of movies here that pleases almost every taste and preference. And yes, they have a gigantic food court as well. You name the brands and they have them all.

Piccadilly-Square

Piccadilly Square

mapPiccadily Rd, Sub. City Center, Sector 34A, Sector 34, Chandigarh, 160022The Piccadilly Square is again a very popular hangout spot, especially for college students. It is the home to national, regional, and international cinema. The best part about this location is that it is surrounded by trees and the front of the square is always bustling with young crowds. There is ample parking space and the overall atmosphere of this place is very vibrant and colourful. You are going to fall in love with the superbly lit lobby that is right before the theatre doors. The food over there is limited but absolutely delicious. If you are looking for a great movie night, the Piccadilly Square is never going to disappoint you. And yes, the ground floor has a lot to offer too with its long line-up of restaurants and cafes.

Bestech Square

Bestech Square

mapBestech Square Mall, Mohali Bypass, Sector 66, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Punjab 160062The Bestech Square in Mohali is also a very popular spot for movie lovers. It boasts of having some of the best screens in the industry. It is also a one-stop destination for your shopping needs. The Bestech Square is one area where you can find almost everything you desire including entertainment, food, beverages, fashion apparel, gadgets, and a lot more. There is ample parking space right next to it. You are going to have a lot of fun whether you go there for a movie or not.

VR Punjab

VR Punjab

mapVR Punjab Mall Rd, Sector 117, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar, Punjab 140301The VR Punjab Mall is a little far for my liking but it is still quite an interesting place. This is PVR Cinema’s Gold category and it is one of the leading businesses in the city. Of course, it is a multiplex and the footfall that it receives especially after a major release is incredible. So yes, if you are an Akshay Kumar fan you are going to find it extremely difficult to get a ticket for yourself and your friends over here. The best part about this place is that they have the most fabulous eating joints and cafes spread across the venue

Conclusion

Now wasn’t that colourful? Every movie theatre in Chandigarh has a different story. These venues are not only about movies or cinema. There is so much more to these theatres. There is a character. There is a vibe. There is something about them that you just can’t put a finger on. Wouldn’t you agree?
