A showcase and exhibition of eco-friendly products made with love from small business owners will provide you a fun Sunday this weekend at Mera Qi. The marketplace experience will also include music, dance, flow arts and fire.

Different music brands and small businesses are coming together for the event. From eco friendly and organic skin care products, there are also food products that will be available for sale. There are fun activities like pottery and tarot reading in addition to reiki and meditation as well.
There will be an organic farmer’s table for people to dive into ‘farm to table’ products which promote sustainable living. Coffee and small bites will be put on sale with carry home options as well.

The event is open to all with complementary Mera Qi lemonade and herbal tea, along with with a little play area for small children too.

Speaking about the event, Ayesha Sandhu, curator at the Tricity-based Mera Qi says, ” It is an effort to be vocal for local, to promote hand work and artisanal products,to get the consumer to meet the maker, to learn more about the intentions and realise how important the consumer’s role can be”.

“If our demand is mindful, our supply will be too. It is an effort to realise that our purpose in life is to feel the joy of being by being amongst people, sharing experiences and honouring our bodies and the mother Earth,” she says on a philosophical note.

Speaking about any  future plans for making the marketplace a regular feature, she says, “We plan to hold it once a month and ideally an open event in one of the beautiful parks of Chandigarh”.

The Punjabi film Udeekan Teriyan, which had created quite a pre-release buzz, is replete with emotion, tragedy, entertainment, seasoned with dollops of comic moments. The much-awaited film is all set to hit the silver screen on April 14. The makers, who have invested quite a fortune to make this film unique, unlike the usual run-of-the-mill rom-com ventures, are ecstatic and hopeful.

The cast of the much-awaited film, which was shot in parts of Punjab and Chandigarh, include Jaswinder Bhalla, Amar Noorie, Seema Kaushal, Vindu Dara Singh, Pukhraj Bhalla, Gunjan Katoch, Harby Sangha and Abhishek Sharma among others, who have done justice to their respective portrayals.

Udeekan Teriyan is an emotioally-charged family drama that revolves around a common Punjabi household featuring Sukwinder Singh Sukhi, played by Jaswinder Bhalla.  Sukhi’s wife goes missing for a long time shoving him into an abysmal spell of loneliness.

While on a daily hunt for his missing spouse, Sukhi has a chance encounter with Amrita, who is also faced with the same predicament. Her husband too has gone missing under mysterious circumstances. Just by a quirk of fate, both Sukhi and Amrita undergoing the worst phases of their lives, come close to each other. Shock-shelled as they are, both try to keep brave faces despite the odd situations they are in.

Udeekan Teriyan is a relatable family drama woven into a ubiquitous story of every Punjabi household, portraying the travails of the quintessential lonely Indian couples, who are often caught up in the whirlwind of circumstances, rendering them as mental wrecks at times.

“We head straight to the Fun City at Ramgarh (Panchkula) along with our septuagenarian parents when the temperatures in Chandigarh and elsewhere sour steadily. While we enjoy the slides, our parents enjoy being around taking a stroll, while the kids take a splash in the cerulean waters under the watch of a hawk-eyed staffer. We have fun the whole day to return home before sundown, fully revitalized. One such inspiring woman is Dr Harsimrat Kalsi, a Senior Consultant Physiotherapist, who moved to New Zealand in 2012 and worked as a Physiotherapist and Activities Coordinator at Eden Lifestyle Care, Oceania Living, City Auckland. Tell us about your life as a working mother?

Being a working mother is a very tough job. All the more, when one has to take care of a child being the sole guardian. I work hard to bring up and educate my daughter. A working mother has to perform multifarious duties like homemaker, cook, teacher and a good parent and she hardly has any time left for herself as she has to follow a set routine every day.

What has your working experience in the Tricity been like?

The Tricity is a well-planned conglomerate. People here are well educated, cooperative and very well-behaved. They value the quality of service. This city has its own culture. Its systematic layout makes the navigation very simple. The city has excellent  educational and medical facilities.

Can you share a bit about your physiotherapy practice and the services you provide?

I treat patients sensitively in order to maximize their rehabilitation and understand issues which impact recovery. I offer both Domiciliary and OPD services at the clinic. My areas of expertise are cardiopulmonary physiotherapy, musculoskeletal physiotherapy, stroke management, sports injuries, geriatric care, antenatal and postnatal advisory.

I support my patients through a program of rehabilitation to improve strength, help them move, decrease pain and make them independent. I am ready and qualified for the next stage in a successful career and looking forward to making significant contribution as a Physical Therapist.
